Akabe HD for Genesis 8.1 Male is an original character from Kooki99, available now at Daz 3D. As an experienced 3D artist and frequent user of Daz Studio, I was excited to give this character a try.  I have only ever reviewed one other character by Kooki99 (Koo Emilie HD for Genesis 9).  She was absolutely superb so my expecations are high! In this review, I’ll be covering as many details as I can to give you an overview of Akabe’s features.

Materials

The materials used in Akabe HD are impressive. The skin material presets included in the product are optimized for Iray rendering in Daz Studio, and make use of  PBR skin technology. This gives it a photorealistic look that is unparalleled.  Overall, the textures used in Akabe HD are top-notch and definitely add to the character’s realism.

Shaping

When it comes to shaping, Akabe HD is definitely unique. This character is a middle-aged man with a strong temper but a kind heart, as described by the artist. The character’s body and head shaping presets are well done and easily applied or removed, allowing for customization of the character. Overall, the shaping of Akabe HD is a strong point and definitely adds to the character’s overall appeal.

Overall, I was very impressed with Akabe HD for Genesis 8.1 Male. The materials and shaping are top-notch, and the character’s unique personality traits make him a great addition to any 3D artist’s library. The optional license add-ons are also a nice touch. While the character is a bit pricier than some other options on the Daz 3D platform, I think the quality of the product justifies the price.
